Italy Car Rent at Palermo Airport

Pros: Our agent made sure we had a car that was suitable for the four of us and our luggage. She was very helpful.

Cons: Nothing, really. A very smooth pick up and drop off experience.

Cons: Booked a Volkswagen Troc and was given a jeep renegade - a very poor car with dreadful software

Pros: Unfortunately not much as the lack of help we were given when returning the vehicle left us very unhappy overal.

Cons: Staff at the airport desk were not friendly. They tried to give us a Jeep instead of a small car. We looked over the car on collection with their agent but at no point did they or us lay on the floor and video the underneath of the car. Consequently on returning it we were told we had damaged the underneath of the car, which we can't have, but had to pay the penalty there and then as we had a plane to catch. Italy Car Rent are not providing the documents we have asked for.

Cons: We travelled from Palermo to airport to pick up car which we could not take as it did not have a GPS. Overall we paid an extra day for a car that we did not get. Very disappointing

Cons: There was a little miscommunication. We asked for GPS in our car and was told it had it, but in fact it didn’t. We weren’t charged for it though, so in the end it was fine, but the cell connection on Sicily with our American phones was a bit patchy and sometimes we struggled to bring up our own maps.

Pros: Great service at pick up, with awesome ladies helping with all issues. Same at return - quick sensible check, I wasn't feeling like if someone tries to find anything that could serve as a point to additional fees. The car itself was outstanding, new (11k km) and really well equipped.

Cons: All was great. I'd just think about providing a WiFi at pickup as it's required to sign an electronic contract.

Cons: One of the agent left the car keys in his pocket and wet for lunch. We had to wait for him to get back to give us the key. We waited around 20 to 30 min before getting the car keys.

What if I haven’t noticed? When I returned the car, the girl asked right away about the scratches, even though they were hard to notice, as if she knew and was waiting for the moment to catch me on this. And then she asked if I informed anyone about this. Didn’t like that it is impossible to rent a car outside working hours

Cons: Italy Car Rent refuse to accept everything earlier I made on web site DiscoverCar, so I needed to pay again, much bigger amount of monex for the same value.

And that is stricly because the car was brand new, when in reality all the other cars on lot had scratches on all wheels because having been already used by others, well it's a normal thing, espcecially in tight streets of Italy. They simply took advantage of the fact that my car came straight out of the dealer. A perfect scam!!!

I'm frequently taking rental cars in all over the world with my license, and never nobody claim anything like that. After rejecting by Italy Car Rent, I immediately got a car in Sixt.

Cons: I watched the person before me get a 500 euro extra charge placed after the staff member said it would be advisable that he take extra insurance because of poor quality roads etc. Because I booked the car they would not except my husbands credit card for payment. That was an error on our part but to not allow me to change to may husband as the driver was just in my opinion poor service

Cons: People waited up til 2 hours to get their car. Car interior was outdated. Very thorough check at delivery (trying to find anything they could bill me for, once that wasn’t possible, they started insisting that the car needed to be washed etc). Will not use Italy car rent again.

Cons: - waiting time of one hour uppon pick up. - dirty front window and no windshield washer fluid - car was 6/8 fueled, instead of completely full - i thought i took an extra insurance while booking the car online, but this was apparently not for damage cause by myself. This can be written more clearly. - the rental company doesnt make pictures after someone dropped of the car. Luckily I made pictures, otherwise they would have charged me for damage I didnt make.

Cons: I paid a $370 deposit. When I went to the Italy Rent A Car they told me no deposit was given or needed. I also paid for Extra Insurance which I didn't get either. My cousin who is a mechanic in Italy looked it up and no Insurance was on my rental. My Deposit should be Returned.

Pros: When we picked up the car the people at the desk were helpful and efficient. The gentleman at the car lot wasn’t as helpful. We found two nicks in the door, that after some insistence on our part, he finally noted on the contract. When we returned the car the gentleman in the lot was quite efficient and the drop off took little time.

My wife has no credit card as such we needed to pay extra insurance although a full insurance was already ordered as mentioned, then we found out that this insurance was not full risk which was obliged to be taken which costed 175 Euro extra, 30 Euro extra for re-booking to my wife etc... a real nightmare, finally the cost went 2X

Cons: Too many papers regarding the car condition, I had to sign one paper with the car condition before I took the car and it was mentioned there are no scratches, and after I took a car I signed another paper with scratches. The right front wheen rubber was damaged and wheels were overpumped.

Cons: The car we picked up still had rubbish inside it from a previous person. It was not the car we ordered and not similar to a small car, it was a larger diesel vw caddy not a small car. The fuel tank was only half full when we picked the car up. They charged us for a minor scratch to a hub cap which other car rental companies do not charge for. They were also going to charge us for a vegetative scratch that could be easily rubbed off. We argued about this and they changed their mind.

Pros: The car rental desk is in the terminal building nad the car just outside, so a very quick efficient pick up, essential when you land quite late into Palermo. We had an early flight home and could post the key in the letter box inside the terminal. Both were a big reason we chose Italy by Car, that and the good price.

Cons: Nothing we didnt like, car was perfect.
