EastCoast Car Rentals at Sydney Airport

Pros: Clean car

Cons: Customer service when I could not find the collecting point. Not clear address. Hidden cost which keep changing. No supportive and friendly, very rude staff. I had to return car early due to unseen circumstances and didn’t get extra days refund back either. I booked suv and paid extra and got small car.

Cons: The lady at the desk was not friendly and had attitude problems. She was mad because we booked through a third party (Discover Cars) and had already taken out full cover insurance. She went on and on about how I would have to cancel that insurance and pay for East Coast Rentals insurance. She was fear mongering us that we would have to pay out alot of money in the event of an accident and then have to try (possibly unsuccessfully) to get paid back by Discover Cars.

Cons: All expenses should be noted on the online booking. I was quoted one price only to be told on arrival that it had a $4400 excess with a $1000 assurity deposit. That meant spending more on the hire than anticipated.

Pros: They also said I needed a utility bill tonuse my Australian drivers licence. This is insane. Who brings that with them!? If I didn’t have a Hong Kong licence I would have not been able to take the car.

The car itself was clean though a little more vaccuuming to pick up crumbs around the gearshift, on and and between the seats (there was a twistie between the seats) and the inside of the windscreen was a bit grimy. But these are only minor things and the overall quality the car was very good,

Pros: It was a bit well taken care of car. Made lots of noises. I am very glad it did not breakdown while I had it. There was construction going on in the building so it was very hard to hear in while picking up the car, this will obviously change. It was more that they seemed annoyed that I could not hear them, but there was nothing I could do.

Cons: They changed the hours of the shuttle to the airport without notifying me. I dropped off my car prior to the front desk being open but after the time I was told shuttle service would start when picking up my car. I understand that it is unprecedented times, but notifying customers of changes should be a priority.

Cons: Through the booking process we added a baby seat & were quoted as such but then when we arrived, we had to pay more for the isofix baby seat which is safer and ultimately should just be the standard baby seat offered & not charged at a premium compared to their older seats.We were also expecting the seat to be in the car or at least someone present who knew how to install one & this was not the case which meant it took twice as long as it should have. It was also dirty with crumbs and stains.
